FILM 2007 (Revisited)
A Round Up of The Latest Films for Your Pleasure
'Quimby Potter and the Order of the Woodworm'
This is the latest of the Quimby Potter books to reach the silver screen. In this film Quimby is pitted once again against He Who Must Not Be Named (The Evil Lord Bob Cl***k) and he also gets his first kiss – it’s been a long time coming….. Special mention must go to Katie Leung who plays Laura Chang, Quimby’s love interest. She’s not been seen much at the Hogwarts Avenue ground since an incident with a pepsi……..
Once again Quimby Potter is played by Daniel Radcliffe . Good support from Rupert Grint as the ginga sidekick Digger Weasley and Emma Watson as Hermione Sylvester. But it is Digger’s elder twin brothers, Dave and Don Weasley, who steal the show. The comic timing is impeccable as are the shocking bright red wigs.
Out Now on DVD - special edition boxed set.
'Pieface'
His name was Dave Sylvester a political refugee from Sully,
but to the rest of the world, he will forever be known as 'Pieface'. This is the tale of the Pie rising from the bottom of the cricketing pile using his cut-throat and ruthless tactics, including killing his best friend for sleeping with
his sister and worst of all, not walking when clearly out. Thrill to the classic lines such as 'Say hello to my leetle friend' as Pieface pulls his 1967 sweaty Centurions cap out of his kit bag and hands it to the visiting Australian touring side.
The DVD extras include an interview with director Quentin Tarantino who reveals the behind the scenes negotiations with the Sully mafia that ensured the film would only be finished on time when the company agreed to sponsor an advertising board for the season.
Starring - Al Pacino as Pieface, Donny Sylvester as his beautiful sister Gina and Antonio Banderas as his best friend/sidekick Clive Wheatley
'Mad Dodd and Muzzy Get the Munchies'
Mad Dodd and Muzz are found stumbling around the cricketing circles of South Wales (with their mighty 3rd team compatriots) smoking it up and delivering a comical collection of wides, first ball ducks and strange rants. The expected storybook ending of our 2 heroes summoning all their undoubted talents to help Sully win the league in the last game does not quite materialise and there is a classic cameo from Marlon Brando in the role of Dave Fiddler who delivers these stirring words of advice as Muzzy enters the fray at Radyr, with the championship hanging by a thread, 'Just get some bat on it you w***er!'
Another great moment is also provided by the Fidmeister, with his reference to Mad Dodd as 'moon man' being a perfect piece of comic timing.
Starring- Rupert Grint as Muzz, Rhys Ifans
as Mad Dodd with guest appearances from Cheech and Chong.
Donny Balboa
The former top dog spin bowler/wicket keeper/batsman Donny Balboa is challenged by young pretender David 'Apollo' Quimby to prove once and for all who is the best.
Although he is 97 years old and hasn't played a decent scoring shot nor stumped anyone since 1954, Donny accepts the challenge, against the wishes of all his family (except for Piehead who has a tenner on Quimby). This leads to a period of intense training and we are treated to a trip down memory lane, including the famous run up the steps at Barry Library, before the inevitable showdown.
Starring Sylvester Stallone as the entire Sylvester family and Paul O'Grady as Quimby

The Producers
The story of two cricket managers who decide that it’s easier to make tea money out of the 3rds and 4ths than from the 1sts and 2nds. Thrill as they use every dodge in the book to con that extra 50p per person from visiting teams and home players alike. Be astounded by the way in which £27.50p is transformed into £33 without anyone suspecting – until the arrival of the new chairman who genuinely believes that the 4ths have a chance of actually winning something this season! Sing along to the wonderful show stopping song ‘Springtime for Fisher’
Starring Nathan Lane as Max ‘Pie’ Head; Matthew Broderick as Bob ‘Leo’ Clarke; Will Ferrell as Franz Fisher and Uma Thurman as The Phantom Tea lady of Rhoose

The Godfather Part IV
This is the tale of the Sulleone family, who ruthlessly shot to power in South Wales cricket circles by a mixture of intimidation and bad haircuts. The Sylvester Olive Oil Company was just the front for the real business of ruthless roller and mower distribution, dodgy barbecues and the out of date beer cans racket.
Starring Marlon Brando as Don Sylvester; Al Pacino as Jamie Corleone and James Caan as Ryan ‘Sonny’ Corleone
Da Sylvester Code
The film is about the discovery of a secret society in the Vale of Glamorgan that guards the truth that would shake both organised religion and South Wales cricket to its very foundations. The premise is that the Sylvester family are actually the descendents of Mary Magdalene – and that Piehead is really The Messiah.
Starring Tom Hanks as John Owen (seeker of the truth) and Sir Ian McKellan as Terry Sylvester.
4X Men 3 – The Last Stand
This movie tells the story of the mutant lager drinkers of Barry, who must join together with their long time enemies, the Strongbow drinking Sully posse, in order to defeat the almighty Community Council, who have waged war on all cricketing mutants.
The special effects are good, but pride of place must go to the costume designer, as the 4XMen all look good in their authentic 1963 Barry Town tracksuits
Starring Patrick Stewart as Johnny Gee; Sir Ian McKellan as Tanner; Hugh Jackman as Sean Davies and Halle Berry as Angie Eskins (with special guest appearance of Vinnie Jones as the evil Lord Twat)

Starring Elijah Wood as Frodo Sylvester; Sean Astin as Samwise German and Sir Ian McKellan as Fiddler the Grey
